What is Salesforce?

Salesforce.com is a company that provides businesses of all sizes with a cloud-based product that is commonly known as a “customer relationship management” (CRM) system. A CRM system contains information about a company’s customers. The company can use this information to understand more deeply their relationship with the customer and compile reports on those interactions.

In the case of an arts organization, for instance, its CRM stores information about people who donate money, volunteer, or buy memberships or tickets to a performance. In addition, Salesforce’s technology can include functionality that helps companies interact with customers online directly - such as selling tickets, or products, providing customer service, or spreading the word about their work through digital marketing.

What is a Salesforce Admin?

To understand the Salesforce Admin role, you need to undestand that there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” CRM system. Salesforce was designed to be extremely customizable - by people who are trained to modify how it functions.
A Salesforce Admin is a professionally trained person who is responsible for managing and maintaining a company's Salesforce CRM system. This includes tasks such as configuring and customizing the system, managing user access, and troubleshooting issues. The admin is the intermediary between the people in the company using the system, and the software system itself. An Admin doesn't write computer code - but rather listens to the needs of the user - and then using their training, modifies the CRM system using Salesforce’s own built in tools.
In the case of an arts organization, a Salesforce user might be someone who works in the box office selling tickets, the development team running reports on donation activities, or the marketing department sending email campaigns and tracking their response rates. The Salesforce Admin helps all of them use the system more effectively, and tailors the system to meet their needs.

We offer personalized and professional guidance during a series of self-guided online training courses. . All of our training is designed to provide hands-on experience and real-world scenarios to prepare you for work as a Salesforce Admin.
The program covers key aspects of Salesforce Database Administration, including system configuration, data management, user access, and reporting. Our program takes advantage of Salesforce’s own library of self-guided learning modules.

Who are the mentors?

All of the mentors are artists themselves, who have built a successful hybrid career combining their artistic world with a job in tech. Most of our team worked together at a company called PatronManager.com providing Salesforce help to performing arts organizations, so they have a keen understanding of the clearest approach to student’s questions who may not be coming directly from a technical background.

How long is the training program?

The training program is designed to be completed during a 12 week timeframe with an expected investment of about 10 - 12 hours a week of private studying time

Are there prerequisites for the training program?

There are no prerequisites nor is expertise in math needed. However, basic knowledge of computer systems and an eager willingness to learn are essential.

Are there any certifications offered?

Yes. Upon completion of the training program, participants will be prepared to take the Salesforce Certified Associate exam, which many employers look for, as an indication of the a third-party validation of your level of expertise.

Is there job assistance provided?

Yes, we provide career assistance to help students find job opportunities as Salesforce Admins. This includes resume building, interview preparation, and job search assistance.
